The Current Method

1. Metal in the form of Granules, shreds, scrap or oxides are collected from numerous different producers (Co2 added due to transport)

2. Metals are sent to processors to be melted and refined, metals are oxides are mixed with fluxes and carbon to create impure metal slabs that can act as anodes. (burns fuel, releases tons of carbon plus the carbon from transporting the scrap granules)

3. Huge tanks of harsh sulfuric acid or other catalysts are used along with DC current (100 - 200amps per meter) to elecrolyze impure metal sheets into pure metal cathodes. (most energy comes from a lacking grid and uses fossil fuels to produce the power = more CO2)

4. Pure metal sheets are sent to various manufacturers to be melted or used in manufacturing of various metal products. (added CO2 From shipping, re melting, power used to create new products)  

Approximately 10 tons of CO2 
is generated to create products from just ONE TON of NEW OR RECYCLED Metal.  

The Pfane Way

1. Manufacturers and producers send their scraps to Pfane or Pfane Partner facilities using the Eco Cell technology.

2. Metal is ground in machines that use clean renewable sources for energy

3, The ground metal is placed in our patent pending, solar powered electrolysis metal refining cells which can be formatted to produce either sheets or 3mm pure metal wire (coming soon)

4.  The process uses regular table vinegar as the catalyst, which is compensated by a massive surface area made available from the granules, turning water back into Hydrogen and Oxygen, where Hydrogen can be collected and used to supliment power for the recycling line. (no sacraficial metal or sulpher is used in the anode)

5. Products such as copper wire, can be perfected inhouse, spooled and sold to industry. 

6. Remaining metal granules are now easily sorted through gravity seperation or extremely small scale precious metal refining methods.  

With the production of products onsite, plus savings from shipping and lack of melting.  

More than 13 Tons Of CO2 Is Saved 
from entering the atmosphere for EACH ONE TON of metal being recycled.


Carbon Negative Refining

  • uses 0.3 to 0.5 amps per kg of metal at 1.2 volts
  • catalyst made inhouse inexpensively from standard table vinegar
  • pure 9999 copper cathode or wire is produced
  • no toxic gasses emmitted
  • no greenhouse gasses emmitted
  • generates hydrogen and oxygen
  • low voltage DC current is non lethal and safe to handle with care.
  • Can accept 1cm down to 0.001mm granules and metal dust
  • 80% clean metal works fine.
  • plastics or fiber contamination does not matter
  • mixed precious metals material
  • requires 60% of the content to be copper.
  • note: larger material may require higher amperage system is rated at 2mm granule size.
  • in 20 minutes can see 9999s copper building up on cathode.
  • smells a little like pickles
  • depending on sunlight or power source and copper content cells will complete transfer inside 24 hours.
  • cathode copper can be sold to industry as is or made into foil products 
  • wire generating cathode can produce 3mm x 3mm x 10 r 20 meters of solid copper wire in around 3 hours.  (special order cathode)
  • Granules left over contain no copper (less than 5%)
  • as seen in the photo, predominant gold foils, silver, steel and plastic remain
  • much easier to sort

Refine With Pfane

Pfane now offers Co2 Negative Refining of Base and Precious Metals Using our Patent Pending EcoCell Technology

120 Ton /mo 

Pfanes refining cells are setup for copper primary granule refinement. Upon phase 2 completion each facility can make ~9000 kg of 99's copper using 24 hour of sunlight.


Our Workers and our Environment are kept safe due to our proprietary catalyst made from simple table vinegar.

Solar System

4x 500watt panels for each module (360 kw total)  used for primary granulation of metals while each EcoCell module uses just 1200 watts of power at runtime.


5 x 30v-10amp standby DC Power supply provides just enough power overnight to keep copper from collecting back into solution.

Co2 Negative

Pfane Ecocell is the only system of it's kind that can replace the need for melting secondary raw materials before they are refined saving 6tons of Co2 per ton of granuels refined by Pfane.


With it's slim futuristic design, EcoCell is highly scalable.  400 square meters (3800 square feet) of EcoCell Modules can refine up to 90tons of metal inside 24 solar hours.
